Despite being fully vaccinated, following health protocols, Abra bishop tests positive for COVID-19

Bangued Bishop Leopoldo Jaucian has tested positive for coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

Jaucian disclosed the result of his swab test in a brief statement released by the diocese on Saturday, Aug. 28, said the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) News.

The prelate had his swab test on Aug. 27, and his positive result came out today, Aug. 28, it reported.

“Having been fully vaccinated and diligently following health protocols, COVID-19 has not escaped me,” Jaucian said.

The 61-year-old Abra bishop said when he found that he was positive for COVID-19, he immediately isolated himself.

He advised those who had close contact with him these days, especially those who have symptoms, to go to rural health units (RHUs).

“I am one with all those in this situation. Let us pray for one another. God heals,” Jaucian also said.
