Scattered rain showers, thunderstorms over parts of Luzon and Visayas due to ITCZ -- PAGASA

The intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ), which is a rain-inducing weather system that has circulations or low pressure systems, may continue to affect parts of Luzon and Visayas this weekend, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said on Friday, Aug. 27.

In its weekly weather outlook, PAGASA said that cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms may affect Bicol Region, Southern Luzon, and Western and Central Visayas on Saturday, Aug. 28

Meanwhile, Metro Manila and the rest of the county can expect generally fair weather conditions with some isolated rain showers or thunderstorms.

By Sunday until Wednesday, Aug. 29 to Sept. 1, PAGASA said the effect of the ITCZ is seen to weaken.

The easterlies or the warm winds coming from the Pacific Ocean will be the dominant weather system that may affect the country.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy conditions with some afternoon or evening rain showers or thunderstorms.

By Thursday until Friday, Sept. 2-3, a weak southwest monsoon or "habagat" is expected to affect Palawan and Western Visayas.

However, PAGASA said the easterlies will still be the prevalent weather system across the country.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have generally fair weather conditions except for isolated rain showers or thunderstorms mostly in the afternoon or evening.

PAGASA said there is a slim chance of tropical cyclone development throughout the outlook period.

Based on climatological records, PAGASA estimated that two or three tropical cyclones may enter or affect the country in September.
