Manila LGU finishes 'ayuda' distribution in 16 days

The Manila city government finished the distribution of the financial aid from the national government on Thursday (Aug. 26).

Manila Department of Social Welfare (MDSW) Director Re Fugoso said about 380,820 families have received P4,000 each.

MDSW distributed a total of P1,523,280,000 worth of financial aid to the beneficiaries of the Social Amelioration Program under the Bayanihan Act 1 and additional beneficiaries under the Bayanihan Act 2.

The financial aid distribution was completed in just 16 days, from Aug. 11 to Aug. 26.

Overall data for the distribution are as follows:

District 1 to 6 (including Baseco) -- 369,218 families with a total of P1,467,872,000

Transport groups -- 10,256 families with a total of P41,024,000

Vulnerable groups -- 1,346 families with a total of P5,384,000

The Department of Social Welfare (DSWD) has authorized the MDSW to distribute the financial aid to the beneficiaries in accordance with the Joint Memorandum Circular issued by the DSWD, Department of National Defense and the Department of the Interior and Local Government.

The national government released cash aid for families in cities and provinces affected by the implementation of the Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ).
