“Lovers of the Red Sky,” a new Korean drama starring actress Kim Yoo-jung and actor Ahn Hyo-seop, will premiere on Viu on Aug. 30.

A Korean Viu Original, “Lovers of the Red Sky” tells the story of the first female painter in Joseon, Hong Cheon Gi (played by Kim Yoo-jung), and a blind astrologer, Haram (portrayed by Ahn Hyo-seop).

During an online press conference for the drama on Aug. 26, director Jang Tae-yoo praised the chemistry of the stars.

"Their chemistry was crazy. They did so well that the only thing I had to do was to make sure the cameras rolled well," he said, according to SBS News.

Kim Yoo-jung said she loves “the vibe that our filming site gave off. It made me feel comfortable. Most importantly, I was able to communicate well with everyone. I spent a lot of time talking to the cast and staff about my lines and emotions in certain scenes. It was very useful."

Ahn Hyo-seop, who debuted as an actor in the drama “Splash Splash Love” in 2015, said he relied on Kim Yoo-jung during the filming.

"I actually relied on Yoo Jung much. I had to act with her the most, but she was more experienced in this field than I was, so I just had to respond to her great acting," he said.

He said Kim Yoojung “constantly gave me help and advice. We talked about our scenes often as well. I think that helped quite a bit, because we were able to find the best together."

Kim Yoo-jung drama credits include “Moon Embracing The Sun,” “Dong Yi,” “Clean with Passion for Now” and “Love in the Moonlight.”

Hong Cheon Gi, her character in “Lovers of the Red Sky,” is confident, optimistic, and full of life. She’s a beautiful and talented painter — and being the only female painter in the palace is a testimony to her skills.

Ahn Hyo-seop’s role, Haram, is a mysterious astrologer. Although he is unable to see, Haram has very keen senses. His eyes, described as ruby red, led to society ostracizing him as many believed that they were monstrous. Haram led a lonely and difficult life. Yet, Hong Cheon Gi described his eyes as beautiful when they first met.

Also starring in “Lovers of the Red Sky” are Gong Myung, brother of NCT’s Doyoung, and Kwak Si-yang.

Gong Myung will play the role of Grand Prince Anpyeong, who is more interested in writing and painting while Kwak Si-yang will be the cruel and doubtful Grand Prince Anpyeong.

Director Jang Tae-yoo’s credits include “My Love from the Star,” "The 101st Proposal," "Hyena" and "Deep Rooted Tree."
