Caloocan City accepts walk-in vaccination for OFWs, seafarers

The local government of Caloocan City on Friday (Aug. 27) started accepting walk-in Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) and seafarers in all vaccination sites in the city.

OFWs and seafarers don't need a vaccination pass or online appointment. They can proceed to any vaccination site anytime of the day, according to Mayor Oscar Malapitan

They will be asked to present a valid ID, Seaman's book/OWWA certificate or call sheet from the office stating that the individual is being called to report abroad.

Mayor Malapitan said that OFWs and seafarers must be prioritized to be vaccinated against COVID-19.

"Nais ng ating lokal na pamahalaan na matulungan ang mga kababayan natin na magtatrabaho abroad. Bukod sa requirement na ang bakuna para sa kanilang pag-alis, mahalaga na mayroon silang proteksyon laban sa virus (Our local government wants to help our countrymen who will work abroad. Aside from being vaccinated as a requirement from their departure, it is important that they have protection against the virus)," he said.

As of August 26, the city has deployed 1,130,685 vaccine doses.
