The Municipal Health Office (MHO) of Bulakan recorded the first case of COVID-19 Delta variant in the town.

In a post on its official Facebook page, the MHO headed by Dra. Ma. Elisa V. Villanueva announced on Wednesday that it received a report about the first case of the highly transmissible Delta variant in the town last Monday, Aug. 23.
The MHO immediately took steps to address the first Delta variant case and at the same time encouraged the Bulakan residents to strictly follow the standard health protocols such as wearing of face masks and face shields, practicing social distancing, and frequents washing of hands that have been proven effective in minimizing the risks of getting any variant of the virus.
The MHO also reported that 85 new positive cases of COVID-19 have been recorded, bringing the total number of confirmed cases in the municipality to 1,742.
Of the 85 new COVID-19 cases, the youngest symptomatic patient is a one-year-old boy from Barangay Pitpitan. His close contacts are now under strict quarantine. Other young patients are two 11-year-old boys, one 12-year-old girl, and one 13-year-old boy.
The oldest case is an 86-year-old woman from Barangay San Nicolas. She was asymptomatic. Three of her close contacts are under strict quarantine, while another one was under monitoring.
The MHO said that 34 COVID-19 patients have recovered after undergoing mandatory quarantine as of Aug. 25, among them are a six-year-old boy of Barangay Matungao; 10,11, and 13-year-old boys in Barangay Pitpitan, and a 12-year-old girl of Barangay San Nicolas.
The MHO also reported six deaths -- an 87-year-old man of Barangay Sta Ines; a 58-year-old woman, a 23-year-old girl, and a 67-year-old man, all of Barangay Bambang; a 45-year-old man of Barangay Tibig, and an 84-year-old woman of Barangay San Nicolas, all of Bulakan town. (Freddie C. Velez)
