Of this number, data from the Learner Information System (LIS) Quick Count showed that are 4, 385, 985 learners enrolled in public schools; 247, 874 students in private schools; and 6, 079 in State Universities and Colleges / Local Universities and Colleges (SUCs/LUCs) that offer basic education.
DepEd started holding the regular enrollment on Aug. 16. Since then, there are 4, 639, 938 enrollees across basic education levels.
Region IV-A has the highest number of enrollees with 1,549, 432 followed by Region III with 887, 417 and the National Capital Region (NCR) with 874, 035.
This enrollment data, DepEd said, included the early registrants for SY 2021-2022. In March to May this year, DepEd conducted Early Registration for incoming Kindergarten, Grades 7 and 11 learners.
There were 4, 557, 327 learners who participated in the Early Registration according to DepEd.
The latest enrollment data covered both public and private schools nationwide. The regular enrollment, DepEd said, will be conducted until Sept. 13 or the school opening date approved by President Duterte for the incoming school year.
An enhanced enrollment process is in place due to the ongoing coronavirus disease (COVID-19) situation in the country.
Parents and guardians may text, call, email, and send online messages to enroll their children.
Drop box enrollment is also implemented in some schools to cater to those who do not have access to remote means.
DepEd continues to encourage parents and guardians to enroll their children early - noting that there will be no face-to-face classes and that enhanced blended learning will be in place.
The agency is also looking forward to an increase in enrollment, especially in private schools, in the coming weeks.
Moreover, DepEd expressed hope that the learners who were not able to enroll last school year will come back to school this SY 2021-2022.
