Siklab hands cash incentives to Filipino Olympic winners

Tokyo Olympic medalists Hidilyn Diaz, Nesthy Petecio and Eumir Marcial received their incentives from the Siklab Atleta Pilipinas Sports Foundation.

Diaz, Petecio and Marcial met with Siklab Atleta executive director and Phoenix Petroleum executive Raymond Zorilla during a courtesy call Wednesday, Aug. 25 at the Udenna Tower where the three also posed for pictures while carrying a symbolic large check.

For winning the country’s first Olympic gold in the women’s 55-kg weightlifting category, Diaz got P5 million from the foundation plus free fuel for life from Phoenix.

Petecio got P3 million for claiming a silver in the women’s featherweight division while P1 million was handed to fellow boxer Marcial for winning bronze in the men’s middleweight class.

Boxer Carlo Paalam, who was unable to attend, will also get P3 million after his silver medal finish in men’s flyweight.

“We at Phoenix believe in the power of sports, and its ability to instill important life lessons and values, while bringing honor to a country,” said Zorilla.

“That’s why we have always supported Filipino athletes, especially through Siklab Atleta, whose dream to obtain our country’s first-ever Olympic gold medal has finally come true.

“By giving these four Filipino athletes their well-deserved incentives, we hope that they continue to represent the Philippines excellently in their respective sports, and inspire more Filipinos to do the same,” added Zorilla.
