Manila sets up special community vaccination sites in selected barangays

The Manila city government will set up special community vaccination sites on Thursday (Aug. 26) in some barangays to make vaccine deployment easier and more accessible to residents.

"Pupunta po tayo sa mga barangay na medyo mababa pa po 'yung vaccination rate nila (We will go to barangays that have low vaccination rate)," Dr. Arnold "Poks" Pangan, Manila Health City Office chief, said during the city's daily special report on Wednesday (Aug. 25).

"Meron po tayong mga barangay na nakikita natin na medyo nasa mababa po, less than 50% po 'yung mga nabakunahan sa kanilang lugar (We have barangays where less than 50% of the residents are vaccinated)," Dr. Pangan said.


The city health officer added that these residents may be waiting for their preferred vaccine brands, or the vaccination sites in the city are too far to them.

The city government will set up the special community sites for 1st dose vaccination of A1 to A5 priority groups in the covered courts of Brgy. 118 and Brgy. 28 in District 1; Tambunting covered court in Brgy 378 and Brgy. 393 covered court in District 3; and Damka covered court and Belfast covered court in District 6.

Each special community site will have 1,000 vaccine doses and the "no walk-in" policy will be strictly implemented.

Those who want to be vaccinated may go to their respective barangays and ask for the stubs.

"Minarapat po namin na puntahan kayo para nang sa ganon wala na po kayong dahilan para hindi po kayo makapagpabakuna. Mga kasama, mga batang Maynila, please po bukas i-grab po natin 'yung opportunity para nang sa ganon maprotektahan po tayong lahat (We've decided to go to your places so that you will no longer have reasons not to be vaccinated. My fellow Manila residents, I'm asking you to please grab the opportunity tomorrow to be vaccinated so all of us would be protected)," Dr. Pangan said.

About 66 percent of people in the city are now fully vaccinated, according to Dr. Pangan.

The city government will only allow walk-ins in mall vaccination sites.
