Vice President Leni Robredo on Wednesday, August 25, announced that she will cancel some of her activities because she has to go into a 14-day quarantine after she came in “very close contact” with an Office of the Vice President (OVP) staff who tested positive for COVID-19.

“I have been exposed to somebody from our office who tested positive for COVID-19 today. While we have been religiously following health protocols, I was a very close contact,” Robredo said in a Facebook post.
“I started my quarantine yesterday after she developed symptoms. Because of this, I need to continue with my quarantine,” the vice president added.
Based on current protocols, Robredo will have her RT-PCR test on Monday, Aug. 30, the 7th day since her last exposure.
She said the protocols dictate that even if she tests negative to the test, which is considered to be the gold standard of COVID-19 testing, she will need to complete her 14-day quarantine.
“Unfortunately, I need to cancel some of the activities I have committed myself to. Apologies to everyone who may be affected by this. I will continue to work from home during the entire period,” she wrote.
Robredo is fully vaccinated with the United Kingdom’s AstraZeneca vaccine after receiving her second dose on Aug. 11. Today, Aug. 25, is exactly the second week since she had her second dose.

Medical experts said that an individual is fully vaccinated from the virus two weeks after the second jab.
The vice president has been busy with her Vaccine Express initiatives these past weeks in a bid to ramp up the government’s vaccination efforts and curb the transmission of the coronavirus.
She was last seen on Sunday, August 22, at the Vaccine Express in Pasig City.
