Abalos warns vaccinees attempting to get booster shots from other cities

This was the warning of Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) Chairman Benhur Abalos to people who will attempt to get booster shots for COVID-19 outside their city residence.

Abalos said erring individuals might take advantage of the the move of other cities in Metro Manila to vaccinate unvaccinated residents outside their jurisdiction.

But the MMDA chief said the attempt to get booster shots will not be as easy as these people thought it would be.

"Wag na wag ninyong gagawin at mahuhuli kayo...Mahahanap kayo kung nakailang shot na kayo. Mahuhuli at mahuhuli kayo (Don't ever try to do it, you will only get caught...We have ways to find out how many shots you have received. You will get caught no matter what)," Abalos warned during a televised briefing Wednesday, Aug. 25.

The chairman explained that a vaccinee will have to first register via the concerned local government unit's online registration platform to secure a schedule for the jab.

At the vaccination site, the vaccinee will be asked to present a government-issued ID for verification and will be asked to sign a declaration that he did not receive any COVID-19 vaccine yet.

One reliable way to verify whether a vaccinee was already vaccinated or not is through the database from the Department of Information and Communications Technology where vaccination lists of all cities in Metro Manila are stored.

Cities in Metro Manila that have already vaccinated target population against coronavirus disease are opening their doors for unvaccinated individuals from other cities in order to achieve the 50-percent vaccination goal in the region soon.
