'Sipsip?' Belgica claims that persons being probed by PACC are backing his potential Senate run

Presidential Anti-Corruption Commission (PACC) Chairman Greco Belgica claimed that the very persons that the agency have been investigating have sent him feelers expressing "support" for his potential senatorial run in May 2022.

This was bared by Belgica during Tuesday's Laging Handa virtual press briefing wherein he was asked about his inclusion in the ruling party Partido Demokratiko Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan's (PDP-Laban) Senate slate. In particular, he was asked if this development could affect his current work with the PACC.

"As my professional work is concerned, and my commitment to the anti-corruption campaign of the President, and to the people, hindi po (It won't)," Belgica said.

"Ang tanging epekto lang po nito, ay 'yung mga taong naiimbesitigahan ko ay nagpapasabi at nagpapalapit na tutulungan daw nila ako sa eleksyon (The only effect it made is, the persons who I've been investigating have sent feelers that they would help me in the election)," he bared, chuckling.

"Kaya sabi ko sa kanila, 'Wag niyo sakin sasabihan 'yan,' hindi naman nasasabi sakin ng direchuhan, pero sabi ko, 'Wag niyong sasabihin sa akin 'yan dahil isasama ko sa report ko 'yan' (That's why I told them, 'Don't tell that to my face,' they're not telling me directly, but I said, 'Don't tell that to my face because I'll include that in my report)," he said.

The PACC is the lead agency of the government against corruption.

At any rate, Belgica clarified that his Senate run was not yet final and that he was very much committed to fulfilling his task as PACC head.

"'Yung pagkakasama ko po sa line-up is nagpapasalamat po ako roon pero hindi pa ho final 'yun. Heto po ako ngayon, ito po ang tatrabahuhin ko (I am thankful for my inclusion in the line-up, but that is not yet final. Right now I'm here in the PACC, this is where I will work)," he said.
