Rain showers, thunderstorms over parts of PH due to ITCZ -- PAGASA

The intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ)--a rain-inducing weather system that has circulations or low pressure systems--is expected to affect several areas in the country, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said on Tuesday morning, Aug. 24.
Cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms will prevail over Oriental Mindoro, Occidental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Palawan, Albay, Catanduanes, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Sorsogon, Masbate, Zamboanga del Norte, Zamboanga del Sur, Zamboanga Sibugay, Bukidnon, Camiguin, Lanao del Norte, Misamis Occidental, Misamis Oriental, Agusan del Norte, Agusan del Sur, Dinagat Islands, Surigao del Norte, Surigao del Sur, and Visayas.
Meanwhile, Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy conditions with isolated rain showers due to localized thunderstorms.
PAGASA warned the public against flash floods or landslides that may occur during severe thunderstorms, which are often associated with short-lived heavy rain, lightning, thunder, gusty winds, and sometimes hail.
Weather specialist Loriedin dela Cruz said PAGASA has not monitored a low pressure area (LPA) or tropical cyclone that may affect the country in the next two to three days.
Moreover, PAGASA has not issued any gale warning on Tuesday morning thus fisherfolk and seafarers are safe to sail.
