The Muntinlupa City government has ordered a granular lockdown in a subdivision, the ninth area to be placed under extreme quarantine since Aug. 10 due to the rising number of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases.
Mayor Jaime Fresnedi imposed a 15-day Extreme Localized Community Quarantine (ELCQ) on Mahogany and Kamagong Streets in Villa Carolina 2 Subdivision, Brgy. Tunasan from 6 p.m. of Aug. 24 to 6 p.m. of Sept. 8.

According to the Muntinlupa City Health Office, the lockdown was ordered due to an alarming COVID-19 attack rate and doubling time for the two streets.
In Kamagong Street, the number of cases has increased from one last week to 13 cases as of Aug. 23. The street has 56 households with 247 residents with reported clustering of cases, a narrow doubling time of two days and a high attack rate of 526.31 per 10,000 population.
For Mahogany Street, clustering of cases was also recorded with 11 active COVID-19 cases out of 295 residents. The community has a high attack rate of 372.88 per 10,000 population and a narrow doubling time of six days.
The two streets have high priority groups including 99 senior citizens, two persons with disability and 23 children aged less than 5 years old.
Like in other areas under lockdown, the CHO will conduct mass testing and contact tracing in the areas.
The Muntinlupa police will enforce security measures.
The City Social Service Department and barangay will provide food packs and other basic items for the affected residents during the ELCQ.
On Aug. 23, the city government imposed ELCQ in Building 2 of the BLISS residential complex in Brgy. Putatan, which will last until Sept. 7.
Other communities in Muntinlupa currently under granular lockdown are the Building 17 at Filinvest Socialized Housing, Brgy. Alabang from Aug. 19 to Sept. 2; Angelo, Horrileno, Endencia, Paredes and Barrera Streets. in Katarungan Village 1, Brgy. Poblacion from Aug. 19 to Sept. 2; Purok 3, Molera Compound in Brgy. Sucat and Purok 7, Beatriz Compound, De Mesa L & B Street in Brgy. Alabang from Aug. 6 to 27; Block 8, Hills View and Mangga St., Lakeview Homes in Brgy. Putatan from Aug. 12 to 26; and Chico Street, Laguerta in Brgy. Tunasan from Aug. 10 to 25.
Amid the growing number of COVID-19 cases in Muntinlupa, Fresnedi urged residents to get vaccinated.
As of Aug. 23, Muntinlupa has 2,195 active COVID-19 cases out of 18,230 confirmed cases,15,610 recoveries and 425 deaths.
