DFA: 36 more Filipinos from Kabul arriving in Manila Aug. 25 - 26

At least 36 Filipinos who managed to leave Kabul following the Taliban takeover of Afghanistan are scheduled to arrive in Manila today and tomorrow via separate flights from Singapore, the United Kingdom and, Qatar, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) confirmed Tuesday.

The DFA said one more Filipino was able to leave the Afghan capital for the UK, bringing the total number of remaining Filipinos in Kabul to 26.

“Some of those who have already been evacuated will be arriving today and tomorrow - 22 from the UK, 9 from Singapore, and 5 more from Doha,” the Department said.

Of the remaining 26 Filipinos in Kabul, 16 are requesting repatriation from their respective company or from the Philippine government, while the rest have opted to stay.

“The DFA continues to work closely with various governments and other partners to find flights for the repatriates and ensure that they come home as soon as possible,” the foreign affairs office said.
