Bad day for motorcycle rider who gets driver's license via Facebook

It was a bad day for a motorcycle rider who availed of a quick driver's license after he was busted by operatives of the Inter-agency Council for Traffic (I-ACT) after a helmet violation in Bulacan.

The rider, whose identity was withheld, was apparently first apprehended for wearing the wrong helmet.

The I-ACT, however, said when the authorities checked his driver’s license, it was later found out that it was “fake.”

The rider explained that he got his driver’s license from a certain Facebook post, which offers to fix services with an amount of P9,000.

“Sa Facebook lang po. P9,000 po ito mga tatlong buwan na po nakalipas. Nakita ko lang po, naengganyo lang po (I got it from Facebook, it offers P9,000. I got my license about three months ago. I just saw it and got attracted from the post),” the motorcycle rider said when he was asked by the I-ACT authorities.

The I-ACT said the rider will face charges for his multiple law violations.

The authorities reminded the motorists not to perform transactions with the people behind the fake accounts to prevent greater penalties imposed.

“Pinapayuhan ng I-ACT ang lahat ng mga motorista na huwag tangkilikin ang mga gumagawa ng pekeng driver's license (The I-ACT reminded all motorists not to make transactions to those fixers who make fake driver's licenses),” the I-ACT said.

“Bukod sa hindi ito kikilalanin kahit sa oras ng aksidente o emergencies, mas mabigat din ang pinapataw na parusa sa mga gumagamit nito (Aside from the fact that it will not be recognized even during accidents or emergencies, the penalties imposed on its users are also heavier),” it added.
