Muntinlupa's ECQ 'ayuda' payout reaches 55%

The distribution of the national government’s “ayuda” or financial assistance under the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) has reached 55 percent in Muntinlupa.

According to the Muntinlupa City government, as of Aug. 21, a total of P243,301,000 was released to beneficiaries in the city.

This is equivalent to 55 percent of the total budget allotment of P442,191,000 to Muntinlupa from the national government.

The amount released to date benefited 243,301 recipients. Based on government guidelines, the cash aid will be given in the amount of P1,000 per individual up to a maximum of P4,000 per family.

Since Aug. 11, the city government has been distributing the “ayuda” through the mobile wallet app GCash to prevent the possible transmission of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

For some of the beneficiaries who have not received the money, the city government said they may have issues with their accounts.

The city government this may have been caused by any of the following: not fully verified GCash account, verified GCash accounts but with profile discrepancy (name and/or birthday), with profile discrepancy and not fully verified GCash accounts and official beneficiary without GCash registration.

It said the “ayuda” cannot be sent to a beneficiary whose GCash account has not been fully verified.

Interior and Local Government Sec. Eduardo Año had earlier commended the cities of Muntinlupa, Makati, Caloocan, and Parañaque for using electronic and bank-assisted options for faster distribution of the “ayuda.”

All the 16 cities and one municipality in the National Capital Region (NCR) have received a total budget of P11.25 billion from the national government for the financial assistance.
