DepEd said that the enrollment figure included the number of learners who participated in the Early Registration held in March to May this year.
Early Registration data (as of June 7) showed that there were 4, 557, 327 who registered early for SY 2021-2022. The early registration covered incoming Kindergarten, Grades 1, 7, and 11 students only.
DepEd also clarified that the latest enrollment figures only include the formal system so far.
There is no available data yet for enrollment in the Alternative Learning System (ALS) which is a parallel learning system in the Philippines that provides opportunities for out-of-school youth and adult (OSYA) learners.
There is also no initial data yet as to how many learners with disabilities have already enrolled for the incoming SY.

Using the Learner Information System (LIS) as a database, DepEd has been releasing enrollment figures based on the “Quick Count.” Based on the latest enrollment figure, there are 2, 642, 438 learners who enrolled since the regular enrollment started. Of this number, there are 2, 570, 377 enrollees in public schools; 118, 997 in private schools and 3, 064 in SUCs/LUCs.
Since the start of the regular enrollment, DepEd data showed that Region IV-A has the highest number of enrollment with a running total of 1, 153, 088 enrollees followed by National Capital Region (NCR) with 688, 668 and Region III with 676, 093.
As stated in Order No. 32 s. of 2021, schools may provide various options to implement the enhanced enrollment process for the incoming SY.
In areas under stricter community quarantine classifications, DepEd said that a remote enrollment system should be in place to ensure the safety of teachers, parents and learners amidst the ongoing public health situation in the country due to the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
Parents and guardians may text, call, email, and send online messages to enroll the children. Schools were also directed to make use of various platforms to ensure that enrollment would be accessible to as many stakeholders as possible.
In lower risk areas, limited physical submission of enrollment forms may be allowed as long as the guidelines set by the Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID), the Office of the President, and the Department of Health (DOH) are complied with.
Regular enrollment period in public schools will run until Sept. 13 which is also the school opening date approved by President Duterte for SY 2021-2022.
With face-to-face classes still prohibited, DepEd will be implementing blended learning this school year.

Just like last school year, students across all basic education levels will be learning inside their homes using multiple learning delivery modalities such as printed modular (printed and offline); online learning; television and radio-based instruction; or a combination or “blending” of these modalities under blended learning.
