St. Luke's assures its health workers are 'properly compensated'
The St. Luke's Medical Center (SLMC) has assured that its health workers are "properly compensated" for the important work that they are doing amid the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic.

In a statement, SLMC said the hospital continued giving benefits to its employees "that are beyond what is required of them under the law" such as gratuity pay, free meals, free hospitalization, and accommodation for COVID-19 positive employees.
SLMC said that it has distributed P41.7 million from the Department of Health's (DOH) Special Risk Allowance (SRA), which is meant for those serving COVID-19 patients.
Meanwhile, in a separate statement, SLMC Employees Association (SLMCEA) clarified that there is no dispute between the union and management on the issue of benefits to healthcare workers.
"We are hoping that the DOH will release funds for our special benefits pertaining to Meal, Accommodation, and Transportation as provided in the Bayanihan Law," SLMCEA said.
A group of health workers from private and public hospitals has considered staging a mass protest of DOH's failure to release their benefits.
In an online forum, the Alliance of Health Workers said the mass protest would be their way to air their grievances regarding the government's failure to listen to them.
On Saturday, Aug. 21, President Duterte gave the DOH and Department of Budget and Management (DBM) 10 days to settle benefits of health workers.
