Chester Reyes advances to knockout stage of FIDE Youth Chess tourney

Chester Neil Reyes dominated the Open 16-under division to earn a berth in the knockout stage of the FIDE Online Rapid World Cadets & Youth Chess Championships recently.

Reyes, an incoming Grade 11 student of Nazareth School of National University, drew with International Master Christopher Woojin Yoo of the United States and FIDE Master Maksim Tsaruk of Belarus in the final two rounds to top his division with 8.5 points.

Other qualifiers in their respective age groups were Lexie Grace Hernandez (Girls 16U), Jersey Marticio and April Joy Claros (Girls 1U), and Wayne Diaz Ruiz (Open 1U).
