Surprise! iKON's Bobby getting married, to be a dad next month

K-pop boy band iKON member Bobby, 25, surprised fans when he announced on Aug. 20 that he is getting married and that his girlfriend is pregnant.

In an Instagram post, Bobby said, “I have something to tell you today, so I'm writing this after a lot of thought.”

“I promise to marry the person I love. Also, I will become a father in September. I am happy to have a new family. However, I am even more apologetic to the fans who were taken aback by my sudden news,” he said.

Bobby told fans that he should have informed them sooner but felt sorry for the delay as he was worried about it.

“To all the people who have always helped and supported me, I feel a heavy responsibility because I feel like I'm putting a burden on you. I apologize with all my heart to those who are hurt or greatly confused by my story,” he added.

Bobby’s case is similar to what happened to EXO member Chen, who announced in January 2020 that he was getting married and that his girlfriend was pregnant.

"I have a girlfriend, who I want to share the rest of my life with. While I was discussing with other EXO members and company officials about delivering the news (on my girlfriend,) a blessing came to us,” Chen wrote.

He added, "I didn't want to take more time, so decided to take the courage. I am thankful to my members for their good wishes, and I want to thank my fans for their love. I will keep striving to reciprocate the love,” according to the Korea Times.

Chen’s wife gave birth to their daughter on April 29 last year and last April 24, they held a party at a hotel in Seoul to celebrate the first birthday of their child.
