With the inevitable shift to digital education, a local textbook publisher found a way to make its e-books more accessible to learners by offering an affordable e-learning advantage program.

To make learning resources more affordable and convenient for students and parents to acquire, Saint Mary’s Publishing Corporation (SMPC) has developed its e-learning platforms for its Developing Reading Power (DRP) and Pagpapaunlad ng Kasanayan sa Pagbasa (PKP) for Grades 1 to 3.

SMPC President Jerry Catabijan, in a statement, explained that the DRP and PKP e-books are now made available. These can be purchased in whole or in parts --- like per chapter or per story.

With this, Catabijan said that learning will be “more affordable to students and parents who may not be able to afford the whole book with a one-time purchase, but could be in a more convenient position to buy parts of the book as the lessons come along.”

Catabijan explained that SMPC books would be very convenient to use. Interested users just need to log in and put in a minimal amount --- through GCash or any other payment method. “Then use your credits to purchase reading materials for school use,” he said.

The SMPC e-learning, Catabijan added, can also deliver reports to the student, or the student’s teacher or parent. It also reports reading development through email. “The e-learning app is web-based, and could be easily accessed through smart phones, laptops, Ipads or desktops,” he explained.

Catabijan furthered that exercises also deliver instant reports on the child’s performance at the end of each skill. These, he added, could be presented in graph or statistics for better appreciation by the parent or teacher.

Meanwhile, Catabijan noted that SMPC will also be launching its e-learning materials for Grades 4, 5 and 6 soon. He added that the SMPC Cloud will also include other helpful exercises in other subjects like Math and Science.
