Galvez: Some political parties use COVID-19 vaccines as election weapon
Some political parties are allegedly using the vaccines against the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) as a weapon to increase their chance of winning in the 2022 national and local elections, the country's vaccine czar revealed Friday, Aug. 20.

Galvez made the revelation during the arrival of 582,500 doses of AstraZeneca that were procured by the local government units (LGUs) and private sector, where he said some political parties were not giving vaccines to areas which are not deemed as their allies.
"Nakikita natin may iba na hindi binibigyan ang hindi kaalyado. Dapat pantay pantay and we have to be fair (We have seen that some of them do not give to those who are not their allies. It should be equitably and we have to be fair)," he said.
The vaccine czar did not mention any political party although he called on them to set aside their differences and unite to fast track the vaccination program.
"We are encouraging all the political parties to unite in this time of pandemic," he stated.
On the part of the national government, Galvez assured that the vaccines that they have bought through public funds are being shared to the LGUs equitably.
"Ginagawa nating scientific ang pagdistribute ng mga bakuna. For your information, kino-compute namin lahat ng provinces (We use a scientific method in distributing the vaccines)," he noted.
"Ang equitable distribution not only in provinces but also in municipalities and cities (The equitable distribution is being done not only in provinces but also in municipalities and cities)," he added.
