T1 suffers sweep to GXR in BTS Pro Series opener

Title favorite T1 absorbed a stunning 2-0 sweep to Galaxy Racer in the opening match of the BTS Pro Series Season 7-Southeast Asia on Monday, August 2.

Coming off a third-place finish in the WePlay AniMajor and a championship in the ESL One Summer, Filipino captain-offlaner Carlo "Kuku" Palad and T1 were poised to emerge victorious in the opener of the eight-team $50,000 (nearly P2.5 million) tournament.

Kuku and his crew, who are bound to compete in The International 10 in October, actually went on a good start in Game 1 but eventually fell at the hands of Indonesian carry Muhammad "inYourdreaM" Rizky's Luna.

The game swung in Galaxy Racer's favor when inYourdreaM and company slayed Thai star Nuengnara "23savage" Teeramahanon's Terrorblade in a prolonged teamfight in the 31st minute.

It was downhill for T1 from there as GXR picked off 23savage anew without a buyback as well as Filipino mid laner Karl "Karl" Jayme's Lina twice inside their Radiant base, forcing the GG call in 40 minutes.

Sustaining the momentum heading to Game 2, GXR trampled on T1 with a 23-9 kill score behind inYourdreaM's Leshrac and Malaysian mid laner Hiew "AlaCrity" Teck Yoong's Templar Assassin in just 29 minutes.

Game 2 stats

T1 will try to bounce back against defending BTS Pro Series titlist Motivate.Trust Gaming led by its former carry Souliya "JaCkky" Khoomphetsavong on Tuesday night.

The seventh season of the regional tourney hosted by Beyond the Summit also features Djardel "Dj" Mampusti and Polo "Raven" Fausto's Fnatic, Filipino teams OB x Neon Esports and Execration, among others.
