Over 215K families affected by monsoon rains —DSWD

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) said southwest monsoon rains had affected more than 215,000 families or over 856,000 individuals.

The DSWD’s Disaster Response Operations Monitoring and Information Center (DROMIC) reported that as of 6 p.m., August 2, a total of 215,234 families or 856,664 individuals from 641 barangays have been affected.

The report said 2,364 families or 9,065 individuals remained in 130 evacuation centers.

Meanwhile, a total of 30,623 families or 138,390 individuals have opted to stay with their relatives and/or friends.

The Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR), National Capital Region (NCR), Central Luzon, and Mimaropa (Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Palawan) have been identified as the four most affected regions.

The DSWD, the local government units (LGUs) and the non-government organizations (NGOs) have provided more than P2.96 million in relief aid to the affected families.
