LOOK: 415K AstraZeneca vaccine donation from UK arrives in PH

Around 415,040 doses of AstraZeneca vaccines donated by the United Kingdom (UK) arrived on Monday afternoon at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) in Pasay City.

The anti-coronavirus disease (COVID-19) jabs touched down at NAIA Terminal 3 at 4:18 p.m. Monday, Aug. 2 via Emirates flight EK 332

Present during the arrival of the vaccines were Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr., vaccine czar and chief implementer of the National Task Force (NTF) Against COVID-19; and UK Ambassador to the Philippines Daniel Pruce.

The vaccines were brought to the PharmaServ Express cold-chain facility in Marikina City where they will be temporarily stored before delivery to various local government units (LGUs) where there are high incidents of the Delta variant of the COVID-19.

The doses were donated by the British government as part of its effort to help poor countries in the fight against the pandemic, British Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab said.

“We’re doing this to help the most vulnerable, but also because we know we won’t be safe until everyone is safe,” Raab said in an earlier statement shared by the British Embassy in Manila.
