DOH says walk-ins at vaccination sites not allowed during ECQ

To avoid mass gathering, the Department of Health (DOH) said walk-ins will not be allowed in vaccination sites during the enhanced community quarantine.

"Walk-ins will not be allowed. There will be pre-registration. There will be strict scheduling to avoid mass gathering in vaccination sites," Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said in an online forum Monday, August 2.

She said local governments are also urged to provide transportation to vaccinees.

Vergeire added that vaccination sites should be spacious, have adequate ventilation and implement health protocols.

The Inter Agency Task Force earlier placed Metro Manila under ECQ from August 6 to 20.

The DOH encouraged LGUs to make vaccines available even to those not from their areas in accordance to the "no wrong door" policy.

"Please accommodate those who come even if they are not from your area if they are eligible," Vergeire said.

The DOH, meantime, is mulling to expand NCR vaccination program to other sectors to cover more people.

"For NCR LGUs, we may be expanding to other sectors in order to reach that immunity that we want to have in the epicenter here in the NCR," said Vergeire adding that this will depend on the number of vaccines that will be arriving.

The Health official, however, reminded LGUs to still prioritize A1 to A3 as they have bigger chances of having COVID-19 and get hospitalized.

These are the frontline healthcare workers, senior citizens and those with comorbidity.
