DOH says more than 9 million Filipinos already received second dose of COVID-19 vaccines

More than nine million Filipinos have already received their second dose of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) vaccines, the Department of Health (DOH) said Monday, August 2.

The latest vaccine statistics showed that as of August 1, a total of 9,115,963 have already gotten the complete protection of the COVID-19 vaccines while 11,747,581 have received their first doses.

This means a total of 20,863,544 doses have already been administered.

Those who received their first doses were workers in frontline health services totaling 1,995,926; senior citizens, 2,884,325; individuals with comorbidity, 3,770,784; frontline personnel in essential sector, 2,623,263 and indigent population, 473,283.

As for the number of those who completed their second doses, the breakdown is as follows: 1,571,843 workers in frontline health services; 2,616,273 senior citizens; 3,327,621 individuals with comorbidity; 1,295,610 frontline personnel in essential sector, and 304,616 individuals who belong to indigent population

The Department of Health (DOH) and the National Task Force Against COVID-19 also said that the total doses administered in the 22nd week of the national vaccination reached 3,661,123 doses with an average of 523,018 daily administered doses.

The DOH urged the public to continue to follow the minimum public health standards and get vaccinated as a defense against COVID-19 and its variants.

"Let's remember to properly wear our masks and face shields, observe physical distancing, wash our hands, and ensure there is ventilation when we are indoors," it said.

"Also, let's get vaccinated when it's our turn and get the second dose as scheduled. Together, we can beat COVID-19," added DOH.
