Starting August 25, the voter registration will start from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Monday to Friday.

Commission on Elections (Comelec) Commissioner Rowena Guanzon announced this on Wednesday, Aug. 18.

On Facebook, she also said that registration on Saturdays and holidays will be from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

"Don't forget that the deadline of Voter Registration is still on September 30, 2021," she said.

"You can register to vote at any satellite registration sites in your area," added Guanzon.

In an advisory on Thursday, the Comelec said the new voter registration schedule will start on Aug. 23.

The En Banc on Wednesday unanimously approved the extension of voter registration hours, as well as the opening of voter registration on Saturdays and holidays, for the remainder of the voter registration period.

Comelec spokesperson James Jimenez, however, said that the extended operating hours of Offices of Election Officers (OEOs), only covers areas under general community quarantine (GCQ) and modified GCQ.

"Under our general guidelines, our policies on this is there is no voter registration in areas not under GCQ or MGCQ," he said in an online press briefing.

Jimenez said it is also possible that satellite voter registration activities would close at a later time as compared to those held in the OEOs.

"For satellite registration, there is always a possibility that it will be extended beyond what is normally the registration hours," he said.

"In some cases, the malls are requesting that we conduct registration activities until the closure of the malls," added Jimenez.

"So depending on the arrangement with the malls, if they consent to having the registration activities while the mall is still open, then that is what we do also," he said.

At present, all OEOs are open for voter registration from Mondays to Fridays, at 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
