A man who was given a warning by authorities for not wearing a face mask was arrested after turning out to be in possession of illegal drugs and weapons in Taguig Wednesday.
Brig. Gen. Jimili Macaraeg, director of the Southern Police District (SPD), identified the suspect as Jamoran Cayagcag, 27.

At about 4:05 p.m. on Aug. 18, the Taguig police, together with personnel from the Taguig Peace and Order Unit (TPOU) and Mobile Patrol Unit (MPU), were conducting “Oplan Galugad” and anti-criminality operations along Roldan Street in Brgy. New Lower Bicutan when they saw Cayagcag without a face mask.
The operatives reminded him of the rule on the mandatory wearing of face masks amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. But instead of following the advice, the suspect tried to escape and he was arrested after a chase.
Recovered from the suspect's possession were 25 grams of suspected shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride) estimated to be worth P170,000, one hand grenade, one caliber .38 revolver and four caliber .38 live ammunition. The confiscated illegal drugs will be turned over to SPD Crime Lab for chemical analysis.
Cayagcag, who is now detained at the Taguig City Police Station custodial facility, is facing charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002), Republic Act RA 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act), Republic Act 9516 (amending Presidential Decree No. 1866 codifying law on illegal/unlawful possession of firearms, ammunition or explosives) and Taguig City Ordinance No. 12 (mandatory wearing of face masks by all persons in Taguig who go out in public during the enhanced community quarantine).
"One of my marching orders when I assumed the post as SPD Director is to strengthen anti-criminality operations,. Our personnel will not cease to arrest those who get involved in illegal activities," said Macaraeg.
