The COVID situation at Ospital ng Sampaloc remains under control despite its occupancy rate hitting 90 percent, its director said Thursday (Aug 19).

"Para sa amin, controlled pa ito, di pa 'to katulad nung March-April experience na pila pila na sa ER (For us, it is still under control. It's not like the March-April experience when there was a queue in the ER)," Dr. Aileen Lacsamana, hospital director, told DZMM Teleradyo.
Lacsamana also underscored the importance of vaccination, saying it helped in easing the situation in the hospital.
"Personally, I believe yung vaccination (that vaccination) has a lot to do with what we are experiencing now at our hospital," she added, saying that 44 percent of their COVID patients only have moderate symptoms.
Meanwhile, 50 percent of their patients are unvaccinated.
Lacsamana added that only six health workers in the hospital are currently infected with COVID-19 and all of them only have mild symptoms.
"We're still intact," she said.
Manila's district hospitals, including Ospital ng Sampaloc, are helping in the vaccination efforts of the city government.
On Aug. 18, the hospital was able to deploy 1,350 second dose jabs of Sinovac.
