Construction starts for Olympic boxers' new homes

Construction has already started for the new house and lot that will be given to Filipino boxers who have won medals in the recent Tokyo Olympics.

Senator Francis Tolentino led with the groundbreaking ceremonies Wednesday along with recipients Nesthy Petecio, Carlo Paalam and Eumir Marcial at Brgy San Jose in Tagaytay City.

The new house and lot is part of the incentives given by Philippine Olympic Committee President Bambol Tolentino to the three boxers, who took home two silvers and one bronze medal in the Olympiad.

The house will feature a single detached style with two bedrooms and an attic. Along with the 110 square meter lot, it costs close to P5 million each.

Construction is expected to finish by December this year.

Earlier, the three medalists along with Olympic gold winner Hidilyn Diaz joined the Thanksgiving Mass at the Our Lady of Lourdes Parish in Tagaytay City.

Also in attendance were POC President Bambol Tolentino, Tagaytay City Mayor Dr. Agnes Tolentino.

Cavite Bishop Reynaldo Evangelista officiated the mass.

The country is still celebrating its best performance in the Olympics after the PH team went home with one gold from Diaz, two silvers from Petecio and Paalam, and one bronze from Marcial in the Tokyo Games.
