Baras, Rizal LGU goes after close contacts of first Delta and Beta cases

The municipal government of Baras, Rizal are locating for the persons who were close contacts of the municipality's first Delta and Beta variant cases.

In its official Facebook page, the Municipal Epidemiological and Surveillance Unit said it was conducting additional and massive contact tracing up to third generation of the contacts of the town’s first ever Delta and Beta variant cases.

The local government unit (LGU) of Baras said the very first Delta variant case is a 31-year old male while the first Beta variant case is a 58-year old female. Both have no travel history outside the country nor the region, thus, their cases were considered local transmission.

Both patients have recovered after completing their required quarantine isolation period. The two were scheduled for repeat Reverse Transcription Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) testing but the results of the re-test have yet to be known.

As of August 17, 2021, the town recorded four new coronavirus (COVID-19) cases, bringing to 927 the total number of confirmed cases in Baras. There were 872 recoveries and 26 deaths.
