2 more bodies found in Eastern Samar NPA hideout -- military
The military recovered Tuesday night, Aug. 17, the bodies of two more suspected New People's Army (NPA) communist rebels in the jungles of Eastern Samar a day after the strenuous 13-hour armed encounter in Dolores town.

The discovery was made after troops from the 8th Infantry Division (8ID) went back to the site where they clashed for 13 hours with the NPAs in Barangay Osmena last Monday, said Captain Reynaldo Aragones Jr., chief of the 8ID public affairs office.
"We now have 18 recorded fatalities," he told reporters.
Prior to this, the military had found 16 cadavers during the clearing operations after the gunbattle: 12 were males and four were females.
Maj. Gen. Pio Dinoso III, 8ID commander, had said that they were already on the process of identifying the slain rebels to determine whether there were ranking-members of the NPA among the fatalities.
The bodies would be brought down to the town proper for turnover to the local government of Dolores.
Another high-powered firearm was also retrieved by the military, bringing the total number of collected guns to 30.
Meanwhile, Aragones said there is a possibility that the number of fatalities would further increase as the troops continued scouring the clash site Wednesday morning.
He said the troops sighted seriously injured NPAs moments before they retreated during Monday's firefight.
