PH Red Cross to give more COVID-19 jabs after receiving over 30K vaccine doses from gov't

The Philippine Red Cross (PRC) on Tuesday, Aug. 17, said that it is more than ready to give more coronavirus disease (COVID-19) shots after receiving over 30,000 doses of vaccines from the national government.

“Mabisa ang lahat ng bakuna at nakakaligtas ito ng buhay (All vaccines are effective and they save lives),” said PRC Chairman and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Senator Richard Gordon.

“Hinihikayat ko ang lahat ng Pilipino na magpabakuna na ngayon, ito ang ating solution sa COVID-19 (I encourage all Filipinos to get vaccinated now, this is our solution to COVID-19,” he added.

PRC Health Services Manager Mark Abrigo said that the humanitarian organization received 10,530 doses or 1,755 vials of Pfizer vaccines and 20,000 doses of Sinovac on Aug. 16.

“Right now, our Pfizer vaccines are in our ultra-low freezer located at the PRC PLMC Bakuna Center, while we have divided our Sinovac vaccines into two locations, the PRC Blood Bank Tower and PRC PLMC Bakuna Center refrigerator,” Abrigo explained.

PRC said that its Health Services will be sending the new vaccine supply to PRC Bakuna Centers and Bakuna Bus deployments.

Meanwhile, PRC said that its Health Services is training more chapter staff and volunteers to be deployed in the PRC Bakuna Buses, and Bakuna Centers as the humanitarian organization plans to further their COVID-19 vaccination locations nationwide this week.

PRC continues to play a major role in the COVID-19 vaccination initiative of the government. Those who would want to register for COVID-19 vaccination may call 1158.
