A total of 35 Filipinos from Afghanistan arrived at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport through a chartered plane from Doha, Qatar, the Department of Foreign Affairs said in a statement Tuesday.

The DFA said the 35 Filipinos were evacuated from Kabul by their respective foreign employers and were airlifted to Qatar. From Doha, the Filipinos joined the DFA chartered plane en route to Manila.
No further details were provided by the DFA.
In a separate press release, the Office of the Undersecretary for Overseas Migrant Workers’ Affairs said 238 distressed OFWs from Doha arrived in Manila this afternoon via Philippine Airlines flight 8685. The OUMWA media statement did not mention if the 35 Filipinos from Kabul were part of this DFA-chartered flight from Qatar.
Also on Tuesday, DFA Assistant Secretary for Public Diplomacy Eduardo Meñez asked the media following up on the developments in Afghanistan for patience as they try to navigate the “sensitive mission” of repatriating the remaining Filipinos who are still in Kabul.
“The DFA is working non-stop to explore all options to ensure the safety and welfare of our people in Afghanistan in the face of challenging conditions,” he said.
According to reports, more than 80 Filipinos have enlisted with the Philippine Embassy in Islamabad, which has jurisdiction over Afghanistan, for the planned evacuation plan of the distressed OFWs.
Earlier, Manila-based migration consultant Emmanuel Geslani thanked the United States government for evacuating 32 Filipinos out of Kabul and brought them to safety in Doha.
