PH Red Cross to provide 50-bed emergency tent as COVID-19 cases continue to rise in Bataan

The Philippine Red Cross (PRC) on Monday, Aug. 16 said that it will provide Bataan a 50-bed emergency tent as the number of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases due to the Delta variant continues to increase in the province.
“Tulungan ang dapat tulungan. Sa simula palang ng pandemya, patuloy ang Philippine Red Cross sa paglaban kontra COVID-19 (We will help those who need help. Even on the onset of the pandemic, the Philippine Red Cross has been helping in the fight against COVID-19),” PRC Chairman and Senator Richard Gordon said.
The 50-bed emergency tent, PRC said, will serve as an acute treatment facility and triage area for COVID-19 patients needing immediate health care.
The PRC added that it will supply a 250 square foot emergency tent equipped with portable mechanical ventilators, defibrillators, emergency medication carts, portable ultrasound, etc.
Gordon responded positively after the local government (LGU) of Bataan asked for help from the PRC in handling the pandemic.
“PRC has always been the lifeline of the people, providing services that will alleviate human suffering and uplift the dignity of the most vulnerable,” Gordon said.

The PRC has been PRC supports efforts against COVID-19 through the establishment of emergency field hospitals at the Lung Center of the Philippines and National Kidney Transplant Institute, and isolation facilities in Ateneo de Manila University (ADMU), University of the Philippines (UP), De La Salle University - College of Saint Benilde (DLS-CSB), and Makati Science High School.
The PRC has catered to 2,308 and 204 COVID-positive individuals, respectively, since the inauguration of the Isolation Facilities and Emergency Field Hospitals in 2020.
