Mandaluyong City slams fake message regarding walk-ins in vaccination centers

The Mandaluyong City local government denied on Monday the message circulating in social media that it is accepting walk-ins for its COVID-19 vaccination program.

A circulating Facebook post says that the LGU is looking for unvaccinated individuals to be vaccinated since only 500 people have been vaccinated for the day. It added that all unused COVID-19 vaccines will be disposed of.

"Fake news ang mga kumakalat na text at social media post patungkol sa pagtanggap ng mga walk-in sa ating vaccination sites at maling impormasyon sa pagbabakuna (The circulating text and social media posts saying that walk-ins are now allowed at our vaccination sites, including wrong information in the vaccination procedures, are all fake news," the LGU said in a Facebook post.

"Ang pamahalaang lungsod ng Mandaluyong ay mahigpit na nagpapatupad ng line listing sa mga babakunahan sa lahat ng vaccination sites nito (The local government of Mandaluyong strictly enforces the line listing of vaccinees in all its vaccination sites)," it added.

The LGU reminded that those who would be found responsible for the spread of fake news and misinformation to the public may be arrested and prosecuted for violation of the "Bayanihan to Heal as One Act".

As of August 14, the city has vaccinated 390,931 residents with their first dose, and 222,429 with their second dose.

The city achieved population protection against COVID-19 last August 10.
