
The Philippine Red Cross (PRC) has reached a new milestone in its pandemic response after it vaccinated more than 100,000 individuals against the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) nationwide.
The humanitarian organization said it has already vaccinated a total of 112,325 individuals in their vaccination centers and mobile vaccination buses nationwide as of Aug. 14.
In a statement on Sunday, Aug. 15, PRC Health Services Manager Mark Abrigo said the PRC has vaccinated 105,481 in its Bakuna Centers, and 6,844 through its “Bakuna Buses.”
“Ngayon dumadami lalo ang kaso ng COVID-19, kaya lalo natin dapat hikayatin ang lahat na mag patest, at magpabakuna (Now that the number of COVID-19 cases is increasing, we must encourage everyone to get tested and get vaccinated,” said PRC Chairman and Chief Executive Office Senator Richard Gordon.
“Dapat lahat ay mabakunahan, ito ang pinakamabisang paaraan upang maabot natin ang tinatawag na herd immunity (Everyone should be vaccinated, this is the most effective way for us to reach the so-called herd immunity,” he added.
Out of the total number of individuals vaccinated, 2,251 were jabbed with Moderna under the government's Moderna Program Initiative.
“As we have gradually operated the new Bakuna Center in EDSA, we have already vaccinated 1,154 clients, out of which 634 are OFW clients,” Abrigo said.
