Yuka Saso slips to share of fifth place in Scotland

Yuka Saso managed only an even-par 72 this time and slipped to a share of fifth place halfway through the Trust Golf Women’s Scottish Open at Gullane Golf Club in East Lothian, Scotland.

Tied for second after a brilliant opening round of 67, Saso had four birdies against the same number of bogeys, including on the fifth and sixth holes for a two-day total of 139 – four shots off new leader Ariya Jutanugarn of Thailand.

The Thai star carded a second round 66 to reach nine under for the tournament and a three-shot lead over compatriot Atthaya Thitikul, Danish Emily Kristine Pedersen and Charley Hull.

The reigning US Women’s Open champion was bothered by windy conditions.

She was tied by local bets Lydia Hall and Keysey MacDonald, Korean Lee Jeon-Geun and Americans Sarah Schmeizel and Ryann O’Toole.

Local bet Michele Thomson struggled big time after shooting a 65 in the opening round as she limped home with an atrocious 80.
