The San Juan City local government reminded its residents on Saturday to update or renew their PhilHealth and San Juan health cards so they can avail of San Juan Medical Center's (SJMC’s) free hospitalization services amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

"Tinatawagan ang mga San Juaneñong myembro ng PhilHealth na magpa-update sa pinakamalapit na PHIC office, at sa mga may San Juan Health Card na magparenew na ng inyong membership upang mas mabilis at madali ninyong ma-avail ang libreng hospitalization o "No Balance Billing" sa San Juan Medical Center kung sakaling ito ay kailanganin (I am urging all San Juaneño members of PhilHealth to update your IDs at the nearest PHIC office, and those who have San Juan Health Cards to renew your membership so you can easily avail of free hospitalization or "No Balance Billing" of the San Juan Medical Center when the need arises)," San Juan City Mayor Francis Zamora said in a statement.
Zamora posted the procedures in the updating and renewal of the IDs in his Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/352211381540272/posts/4211221992305839/
The mayor also urged his constituents to get vaccinated against COVID-19 especially now that the threat of the more contagious Delta variant is already here in the country.
"Our current data shows that 191 of our 329 active cases are unvaccinated. All our severe and moderate cases are unvaccinated," Zamora said.
"Active cases that are mild to asymptomatic are vaccinated. In spite of having 329 active cases, SJMC remains at only 50% occupancy since not a lot of COVID-19 patients need hospitalization, they just need to be quarantined. Our vaccines are working," he added.
The LGU announced on Tuesday, August 10, that the city has already achieved herd immunity against COVID-19 after fully vaccinating 74.4 percent of its target population.
