Cloudy skies, scattered rain showers to prevail over Visayas, parts of Luzon -- PAGASA

Rainy weather may prevail over Quezon province, Dinagat Island, Bicol, and the Visayas in the next 24 hours due to the combined effects of the low pressure area (LPA) and easterly winds.

As of 3 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 14, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) estimated the location of the LPA at 85 kilometers northeast of Borongan City, Eastern Samar.

PAGASA weather specialist Raymond Ordinario said the LPA may traverse Southern Luzon while on its way to the West Philippine Sea.

He added that the LPA still has a slim chance of developing into a tropical depression in the next few days.

It could maintain its LPA status or dissipate en route to the West Philippine Sea, Ordinario said.

The weather disturbance and the easterly winds are expected to bring scattered rain showers over Quezon province, Dinagat Island, Albay, Catanduanes, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Masbate, Sorsogon, and the Visayas.

Meanwhile, Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy conditions with chances of isolated rain showers due to localized thunderstorms.

PAGASA advised the public to remain vigilant against flash floods or landslides that may occur during severe thunderstorms.

The State weather bureau has not issued any gale warning thus fisherfolk and seafarers are safe to sail.
