The average coronavirus vaccination in Metro Manila has reached 231,000 jabs per day, according to an official of the government’s task force against coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

However, the figure is still below the government’s target of vaccinating 250,000 individuals daily during the two-week enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) period in the National Capital Region (NCR).

“Kahapon, umabot ng 231,000 ang nabakuna ng buong National Capital Region (Yesterday, up to 231,000 doses were administered in the National Capital Region),” said Secretary Vince Dizon, National Task Force Against COVID-19 deputy chief implementer and testing czar.

“Malapit na nating maabot ang ating target pero marami pa ring paghamon. Pero naniniwala tayo na maabot din natin ito sa mga susunod na araw (We are close to reaching our target, but there are still many challenges. However, we believe we can reach it in the next few days),” he added.

In a public briefing on Friday, Aug. 13, Dizon recalled that the vaccination in Metro Manila was only over 100,000 jabs per day back in July.

The NTF official said 26.7 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines have already been administered across the country as of Aug. 12.

“Ang ibig sabihin nito halos pitong million na ang nabakuna natin sa unang labindalawang araw ng Agosto (This means that almost 7 million doses have been administered in the first twelve days of August),” he said.

Dizon said the country’s average daily vaccination currently stands at 558,000 jabs since the start of August.

This is an increase of more than 200,000 jabs daily compared to the average of 320,000 jabs per day in July.

“Ang target natin sa katapusan ng Agosto ay maka 50 percent tayo na bakunado sa NCR, fully vaccinated (Our target by the end of August is to have 50 percent of the target population in NCR fully vaccinated),” Dizon said.
