Paranaque City Mayor Edwin Olivarez said the Metro Manila local chief executives will meet before August 20 to decide on the next quarantine status of the National Capital Region (NCR).
Olivares, chairman of the Metro Manila Council (MMC), said the mayors in the NCR will get the opinion of the health experts to determine the next quarantine status in the metropolis after August 20.
He said the local government units (LGUs) are now concentrating on the vaccination and lowering of the COVID-19 cases in Metro Manila.
The mayor said all the LGUs in the NCR are targeting to inoculate a total 250,000 persons per day. They were able to vaccinate about 221,000 on August 12.
Olivarez said the Metro Manila mayors were also targeting to inoculate at least 70 percent of the population for the first dose and 50 percent for the second dose.
He said they are hoping to open more businesses by the third going to the fourth quarter of the year since the Christmas season is their productive month.
