DOTr, Grab dangle rewards to transport stakeholders who will get the jab
The Department of Transportation (DOTr) and the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) have teamed up with Grab Philippines to boost vaccine confidence among transport workers by giving out rewards and benefits to those who will get the jab.

Through the partnership, several initiatives will be rolled out to encourage more transport stakeholders to get vaccinated such as promo vouchers for Grab services and raffles where participants can get a chance to win up to P250,000 in their GrabPay accounts.
Grab will also give discounted rides for those going to and from various vaccination sites in Metro Manila through its more affordable GrabCar Bayanihan service driven by vaccinated partner-drivers.
Transportation Secretary Arthur P. Tugade emphasized the importance of inoculating transport workers in this time of pandemic to bring back "commuter confidence" in the public transportation system.
He also noted the need to work with other sectors to ramp up the government's vaccination efforts, especially in the transport industry.
"Kailangan nating ibalik ang kumpiyansa ng mga tao sa paggamit ng pampublikong transportasyon. Kung bakunado ka, mas protektado ka laban sa COVID-19 (We need to restore the public's confidence in using public transportation. If you are vaccinated, you are more protected against COVID-19)," Tugade explained.
Aside from giving rewards and discounted rides, the DOTR, LTFRB, and Grab are also exploring ways to launch several mobile vaccination hubs to accelerate the agencies' inoculation efforts within and outside of Metro Manila.
The ride-hailing giant also vowed to allocate some of its procured vaccines to these mobile hubs and provide medical personnel accredited by the Department of Health (DOH) to administer the vaccine doses.
For her part, Grab Philippines Country Head Grace Vera Cruz committed to support the vaccination efforts of the transportation agencies in order to help "win the battle against COVID-19".
"We believe that by getting more of our transport stakeholders inoculated, we are doing right by our communities, help enhance socio-economic activities, and boost our prospects of recovery," Vera Cruz said.
