The Makati City local government announced on Thursday, August 12, that it has already disbursed 52 percent of the Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) financial aid or "ayuda" to its beneficiaries.
Makati City Mayor Abby Binay said that more than 230,000 Makatizens have already received the financial aid after the National Capital Region (NCR) and other areas in the country were placed under ECQ last August 6 due to the surge of COVID-19 cases and the threat of its more contagious Delta variant.
"Inumpisahan na kahapon ng Makati LGU ang cashless at ligtas na pamamahagi ng ECQ ayuda mula sa national government, kung saan umabot na sa 233,679 beneficiaries ang nakatanggap sa pamamagitan ng GCash (The Makati LGU started yesterday the cashless and safe distribution of the ECQ ayuda from the national government, wherein 233,679 beneficiaries have received via GCash)," Binay said in a Facebook post.
"Unang araw pa lang ng pamimigay ng ayuda ay naabot agad natin ang 52% utilization rate ng pondo para sa Makatizens (We have already reached 52% utilization rate of the funds for Makatizens during the first day of its deployment)," she added.
The mayor had previously said that the LGU will distribute the financial aid via contactless means to ensure the strict implementation of the ECQ in their area and encourage Makati residents to stay at home.
