Scattered rains to persist over northern Luzon, parts of central Luzon due to LPA, 'habagat' -- PAGASA

Northern Luzon and parts of Central Luzon may continue to experience rain showers due to the low pressure area (LPA) and southwest monsoon or "habagat," the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said on Wednesday afternoon, Aug. 11.

Cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms may prevail Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union, Pangasinan, Abra, Apayao, Benguet, Ifugao, Kalinga, Mountain Province, Batanes, Cagayan, Isabela, Quirino, Nueva Vizcaya, Zambales, Bataan in the next 24 hours.

PAGASA advised the public to take precautions against possible flash floods or landslides as rains may sometimes become moderate to heavy.

PAGASA estimated the LPA's location at 395 kilometers east-northeast of Basco, Batanes at around 3 p.m. on Wednesday.

Weather specialist Joey Figuracion said the weather disturbance will likely dissipate in the next few days.

Meanwhile, the rest of the Philippines will have partly cloudy to cloudy conditions with isolated rain showers due to localized thunderstorms in the next 24 hours.

Those in these areas should also remain alert for possible flash floods or landslides during severe thunderstorms.

No gale warning was issued on Wednesday afternoon as sea conditions across the country will be slight to moderate, PAGASA said.
