Gov't to accelerate COVID vaccination, economic reforms, says Andanar after PH now out of recession
The government is determined to accelerate the vaccination of Filipinos and sustain economic recovery programs after the pandemic-hit country roared out of recession.
Presidential Communications Secretary Martin Andanar disclosed the government's work plan ahead after lauding the latest economic growth in the second quarter of the year.
The local economy grew 11.8 percent in the second quarter, that marked the end of the recession for the past 15 months. The country's capital region remained in lockdown until August 20 to fight the coronavirus spread pushed by the Delta variant.
"With businesses, commerce, and the rest of the private sector ramping up their trade and economic activities, the government will continue its economic recovery policies, programs, and reforms," Andanar said in a statement.
He said the government would also pursue "the three-pillar strategy of accelerating the vaccination program, safely reopening of the economy while strictly adhering to public health protocols, and the full implementation of the recovery package, in order to assist the whole private sector in adapting to the new normal."
More than 11 million people have been fully https://www.bernardspharmacy.com vaccinated since the government started the inoculation effort last March. Authorities earlier said the government seeks inoculate more people to boost the defense against the coronavirus and safely reopen the economy.
In the same statement, Andanar said he was delighted by the country's economic performance. He said this was a good indicator of the government's "strategic balance and management" in reopening the economy while address the impact of the pandemic.
He cited that the country was "now out of recession, for the time being, and our strong economic recovery in 2021 remains prospective."
Despite the improved economic outlook, Andanar grabbed the chance to appeal anew to the public to continue to observe health protocols to avoid COVID-19 infection.
"We continue to remind everyone that it’s only by working together and doing our part by observing all health protocols being promulgated by the government that we will be able to maintain the current economic momentum,' he said.
He also called for public cooperation in the implementation of the government's Prevent, Detect, Isolate, Treat, Reintegrate, and Vaccinate (PDITRV) strategy "so that we may fully heal from the COVID-19 pandemic as one nation."
