Makati LGU opts for contactless 'ayuda;' to distribute ECQ cash aid via GCash

Taking into consideration the safety and convenience of residents, the local government unity (LGU) of Makati City will start distributing the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) “ayuda (cash aid)” through electronic money (e-money) transfer on Wednesday (August 11).

Lawyer Michael “Don” Camiña, spokesperson of the city government, on Tuesday (August 10) said that Mayor Abigail “Abby” Binay wants the distribution to be contactless for the safety of the public.

“Gusto ni Mayora Abby na contactless, cashless at convenient ang pamamahagi ng ayuda para manatili tayong ligtas mula sa COVID ( Mayor Abby wants the distribution of the assistance to be contactless, cashless, and convenient for the safety of residents),” he said in a statement.

“Ipapadala ang ayuda sa pamamagitan ng GCash. Bibigyan natin ng panahon ang iba pang karapat-dapat na makakuha ng ayuda para magrehistro sa proudmakatizen.com, para maipadala rin sa kanila ang ayuda via GCash (The cash aid will be sent via GCash. We will give time to other residents who are worthy to get the assistance to register at proudnakatizen.com, in order for us to send the cash aid to them through GCash),” he added.

Meanwhile, Camiña said the list of those who will get financial aid is available in their respective barangay halls.

According to the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), the city government of Makati received over P500 million from the national government.

Metro Manila was placed under ECQ from August 6 to 20 due to the surge of cases and the threat of the Delta variant of COVID-19.
