Ginebra San Miguel is releasing a commemorative label honoring the Filipino athletes who competed in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
In a Facebook post, the brand showed an eight-second video displaying the artwork label featuring athletes in boxing, taekwondo, swimming, pole vault and weightlifting.
The 19-strong Philippine team finished with the country’s best Olympic performance by winning one gold medal from weightlifter Hidilyn Diaz, two silvers from boxers Nesthy Petecio and Carlo Paalam, and one bronze from boxer Eumir Marcial.
It was also in this Olympic edition that the country finally clinched the elusive first gold, while also producing the most number of medals.
This isn’t the first time that the brand honored “modern-day heroes”. Last year, the brand reimagined its iconic label with images of frontliners wearing face masks that include doctors, nurses, security guards, grocery workers and couriers.
